What was it like growing up with Jamaican parents?

It was great, my parents are very cultured people, so it was important to them that I knew where I came from. They sent me to culture school

Culture school?

Yeah, I used to go on Saturdays. It was important to my parents that I knew about my culture. A strong sense of identity was instilled in me when I was younger.

Do you ever question yourself?

I’ve had many down times. People have got the wrong impression about me, but I think from doing this I might be able to change people’s minds about models. It’s important for me to be vocal about who I am, to show people that models aren’t all slutty, and we’re not always at the club every night. You can be an intelligent, spiritual and well rounded woman. And that’s inspiring for other girls to look up to.
